Immigration
We must continue to fight for all human rights, and collective resistance through grassroots and community organizing. From protests, to political action. "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere".
No human is illegal. Our immigrant communities, where my roots run deep, contribute to our vibrant neighborhoods and are the backbone of our economy. Our federal government has failed us in providing a clear pathway to citizenship and supporting our DACA students; on the contrary, our immigrant communities have been under attack. While our federal government has failed us, the state must step up to protect our people. As a sanctuary state, we must strive to do all that we can. As a proud member of Centro CSO, I know firsthand community groups are doing the work on the ground. Since June 2025, I’ve been on the ground supporting our communities, NGO and CBO groups who we need to prepare with resources to continue to properly care for our communities, who have been doing this work. I joined these efforts because we're stronger together and I do the work on the ground. From local ICE patrols, to food drives, Barrio Walks, and Home Depot Patrols with the LA Tenants Union. Community has shown up for each other, now more than ever. I am the community and will do everything I can to protect our immigrant communities.
I come from a family of immigrants. As a first-generation Mexican-American, the fight against Trump and this administration's policies is personal. We must fight to keep families together.
I will bring new ideas and policies to better serve our immigrant community. In the State legislature I will:
PROTECT mixed status families. Enshrine at the state level that publicly funded housing may not discriminate, regardless of status.
Immigration status not a matter for housing or for eviction
Housing and healthcare, regardless of immigration status
Ensure protections that include, protecting data and information of our immigrant and undocumented communities.
Exploring the development of a state ITIN to further protect information and Trump-proof California, while prioritizing, protecting and offering services to those who face barriers to such programs due to immigration status.
Maintain protections and programs for social services, housing and healthcare.
