What Voters Need To Know

SARAH RASCÓN PROTECTED OUR LAND. SARA HERNANDEZ GOT PAID TO DEVELOP IT.

Sara Hernández spent eight years as a corporate attorney for big developers — at a law firm that represents data centers.
Now Big Tech corporations and billionaires are spending millions to put her in the State Senate.
Sarah Rascón was raised in El Sereno by her immigrant grandmother, and she was the first in her family to finish college.
She has spent her career protecting the parks, the hillsides and the water we depend on and serving as a planning commissioner in East LA, where she was one of the people deciding what got built in our neighborhoods. She has been on our side her whole career.
In the State Senate, Rascón will fight to stop Big Tech and the billion-dollar corporations from taking our water, our power, and our say.

Sarah Rascón Is Funded By People She Will Represent

  • Ninety-Six percent of Sarah's support comes from individual donors, with a median gift of $105. Her donors are retirees, teachers, small-business owners, and working families from our community.
  • Sarah refuses contributions from Big Oil, tobacco, pharmaceutical companies, police associations, private prisons, gun manufacturers, corporate landlords, charter school interests, and companies that undermine workers' rights.
Accomplishments

Sarah Rascón's Record

  • Helped lead the Upper LA River revitalization, bringing new parks and green space to communities that had been left out for decades.

  • Built job-training and STEM programs for local youth.

  • Has worked in local government to improved coordination on homelessness, mental health access, affordable housing, school safety, and wildfire recovery.

  • Has worked directly with rapid response groups doing community patrols and resource distribution to protect neighbors from ICE.

  • Helped move forward 100% affordable housing and shelter projects, and gave foster youth a real voice in shaping public policy.

In The State Senate, Sarah Will:

Work to end corporate subsidies so billionaires pay their fair share.

Support single-payer, universal health care.

Fight for more affordable housing and stronger renter protections.

Champion fully funded toxic cleanups, tougher air quality enforcement, tree equity in communities with the least canopy cover, and green jobs.

Expand investment in public education and grow career and technical education programs.

Protect entertainment industry jobs

CONTRAST POINTS

A 49-megawatt data center just went up in our district, in Vernon. There was no hearing. No environmental review. No notice to a single neighbor. Not because anyone broke the rules — because the rules were written that way.
Vernon has since run out of electricity and stopped taking new requests. The next State Senator votes on whether any of us ever gets a say. That’s why we need Sarah Rascón.
Data centers have asked California for enough electricity to power every household in the state. Somebody has to build that. Somebody has to pay for it.
When Sacramento tried to make data centers report the water they use, Big Tech killed the bill. When Sacramento tried to make them pay their own power costs, Big Tech gutted it into a study.
Now the super PAC they filled with $10 million is spending here to pick our next State Senator.
